T-shirt, jumper, coat… the order in which we put on our clothes. My concept revolves around layering. Looking at how garments can be worn, how else can we layer garments to create an outfit? For example a t-shirt over a coat. The collection inspires a sense of individualism and self-expression as it provides an interchangeable range of garments that can be paired differently according to the seasons to encourage a personal choice in the interpretation of an outfit. This concept is emphasised by a secondary direction of layering in the observation of different fabrics and how they appear and react against one another in order to manipulate volume and the overall silhouette. In addition, the ideas of opacity and transparency are explored to illustrate the depth of the layers worn. The collection is designed to be produced in fabrics that would not be seen as the norm.
