‘Make Do’ for Ashish collects the family treasures, the well-loved hand-me-downs and passed along techniques to create a jumble of multi-textured styles. Fusing shapes from 90’s hip-hop and skateboarding youth, this collection presents traditional hand embroidery methods in an urban form. I also found inspiration in Tracy Emin’s ‘Neons’; a collection of sentiments illuminated with neon lights. These sentiments are embroidered over denim, fur and crochet.
With a focus on womenswear, I have created 5 collections, encapsulating 3 concepts: Picasso’s Blue Period, Scales and Urban Veteran. Combining these concepts to create hybrid collections has resulted in unique pieces for brands such as Christopher Kane, & Other Stories and Viktor & Rolf.
