I am a final year menswear fashion design student and this is my design innovation project. There are three innovative concepts to my collection which includes its look at sustainability, the modern spin it takes on traditional weaving methods and its ability to be interactive with the customer. Interaction with the customer is achieved from allowing them to become involved with the construction of the clothing themselves by using weaving techniques to create the garment. Modern technologies such as laser cutting have been used with traditional weaving methods providing the collection with a juxtaposition between the old and new. The collection has been designed for my own brand ‘Raki’ and aims to provide a tailored sports look. Designers which I have looked towards for inspiration in terms of styling and silhouette include Alexander Wang, Comme Des Garcons, Issey Miyake and Christopher Shannon.
