Drawing is fundamentally constructed through the point and the line, understood as a documentation of gesture, space and time. This project attempts to stray from traditional methods of drawing as I created various alternative processes which would not be immediately associated with drawing while still fitting the definition. My most successful method has been embroidery which has a clear point where the needle pierces the material and the documentation of gesture as the thread leaves a trail of movement as a line.
The photographs used are important to consider as a medium as photography is often referred to as drawing with light and is therefore a common means of drawing without drawing.
The tactility of my work is vital as I am attempting to challenge the way in which we interpret space, providing more than just visual stimulus, engaging other senses such as touch.
