Taking inspiration from a series of photographs, which focus particularly on natural forms, I have developed a collection of fabrics for Womenswear Spring/ Summer 2017.

My visual research explores these photographs in greater depth concentrating mainly on the colour proportions and shapes through the use of embroidery. These ideas have then influenced my knit structures particularly in terms of pattern and stripe; using the technique of transferring stitches to create cable like structures. Each piece in my final collection incorporates a differing proportion of colour as explored in my visual research, whilst also taking inspiration from traditional patchwork patterns in order to create a collection, which brings a modern twist to a very traditional craft technique.
