My work explores textiles and craft centring on representations of the body in unfamiliar configurations. The idea is to create an immediate familiarity and comparison to the viewers own body by using materials that imitate skin and hair whilst also highlighting our intensely physical relationship to clothing. I am interested in the protective nature of clothing, notions of inside/ outside, safety and warmth and how textile craft as a ‘feminine’ practice can further these ideas towards the mother, womb or cocoon and reproduction (not exclusively human). Hopefully this creates an  in-human atmosphere and uncanny experience with each encounter.
